Today was the first big test of the entire length of the Ocean Park Loop. I hadn't run any streetcars in quite a long time so my test PCC needed some cleaning and lubrication, not to mention that the older sections of track also needed cleaning. But, after a few jerky runs and a little further cleaning, the PCC ran smoothly. On the horizon are test runs with all the other streetcars in the fleet, as well as some multiple car trials.
Looking great, the PCC sounds great going over the crossovers. So no stuck doors or software issues? Though is suspect the only software on a PCC is the passenger's clothing, and the doors would take your fingers off before they ever got stuck!
ReplyDeleteI must admit that on these tiny PCCs the doors are permanently stuck closed :-)
DeleteI wonder if the real things had any sort of mechanical interlock that would prevent them from moving if the doors weren't closed, or if they simply relied on the driver to exercise good judgement.
That is really looking good !
