Base elements

That's a stack of the last three bases required for the E. L. Moore dioramas. I've made six now, enough for two 'cartoons' of three panels each.

Next I want to spend some time arranging the models on the bases to put together the stories. Also, each will feature E. L. Moore's photographer avatar, so I need to figure out how I'm going to make six of them. Looks like there's some interesting work ahead.

  1. I immediately thought pipe cleaners, but I guess they would be too bulky for the scale!
Next up I thought 3D printing, but of course one has to do all the drawing work, unless you use a 3D scanner, but that still needs a fair bit of prep.
So I guess you'll be back to wire and a bit of Celluclay?

    1. I'm thinking maybe paper clips for the camera legs, possibly some tissue for the horse blanket that covers the person's body and the camera back, and a small styrene block for the camera body.

As for the figure, I think ELM used parts from a Weston 'Flexible Freddy', but some other figure could be substituted.

I'm still pondering what to use.

    2. Just as ELM only had one figure that moved around like any good pressman, could you not get away with just the one?

    3. Well, my plan is to arrange the dioramas to look like panels in a cartoon that tell a story. I'd like to have the photographer in each panel to provide continuity from one panel to the next. But, that might change once I get into the weeds of construction.
