This takes me back, not to Brooklyn but to a place in New Jersey called the Hobby Shop, with a big HO track in the front window. We would bring our own cars. And now I remember the word "controller."
As of 2020 Buzz-A-Rama was still going, at least according to its Facebook page. Long may it wave.

I'm glad to hear it still exists. Here, those places are long gone.
DeleteI just discovered that Buzz-A-Rama is over: https://gothamist.com/arts-entertainment/beloved-slot-car-racing-spot-buzz-rama-closes-good-son-owners-selling-inventory. The owner and his wife, who refused to get vaccinated, both died of COVID, ten days apart. (There’s a lot of backstory there, as the article will make clear.) Their son is selling the store’s inventory.
ReplyDeleteGood grief. Thanks for letting me know.
