I've been working on twisting up armatures for wild Eastern White Cedar trees. The trunks are 18 gauge floral stem wire, and the branches are 26 gauge. I need to apply a glue and sand mix, or maybe a glue and sawdust mix, to the trunks and then paint them.
I'm not sure how I'm going to proceed with foliage, but I'm looking into it.
So many way to kill a cat?
ReplyDeleteMany ways/materials (far too many)ideas on youtube!
I have been experimenting with various kitchen or upholstery sponges in a kitchen blender or coffee grinder. The ones that come dried and compressed work well in the grinder before hydration. Avoid the ones with green scouring glued on, though it might do as rough bushes?
I got some poly 'Batting' to add the ground up sponge to, then drape over the branches.
I guess it all depends on how far away you view/photo from.
Of course there is always the OLD favourite lichen.
Probably best to not use the wife's favourite blender!
Yes, one guideline will be to preserve domestic harmony :-) The thing that strikes me about this type of tree is that the trunks and branches are scraggly and bent, and the foliage, which is usually higher up, is rather lacy. So, there are those two aspects that I think if I can capture I might believe I've done ok. Thanks for the tips! I need to look into them.
