I learned a lot from it and have some new ideas I'd like to pursue. One definite feature any new layout will have to have is it must be very lightweight. I want to be able to take the layout, or sections of it, outside for photographs in natural light.
Gives you time to return to your E.L.Moore layout. And now you have more photos to help guide you!
ReplyDeleteThat's true. First though I have to clean-up the dust and junk from the layout that's cluttering up the workshop.
DeleteI'm also looking for a suitable N-scale steam loco - a American, English or Welsh prototype would be ok given ELM's interests - that could handle the tight turns and be a reliable runner. No luck so far.
DeleteWe live, we learn and the next time make it modular. I enjoyed the detail that went into it and the stories that it told.

Thanks Glenn! The nice thing about a layout with streetcars is the block layout of the streets lend themselves very well to a modular design.
DeleteThe newer-release Bachmann 0-6-0 is a fine runner, partly because of the electrical pickup from the tender. The motor is also upgraded over the earlier version and this makes for very smooth running. I got one for my son's layout and was very impressed with the performance.
ReplyDeleteThanks Galen! I'll check that out.
DeleteI ordered an unpainted one from George's and hopefully it'll arrive sometime soon.
