Grade test

I set up a temporary rig to see how steep a slope the LOL Mk. I could climb, This will determine the maximum grades on any Mt. Lowe inspired micro-layout I might build.

Shown in the photo is the maximum grade the trolley could climb without the motor sounding odd and the wheels slipping. I measured the grade to be about 11%. As a rule of thumb during layout construction I think I'll use an even 10% as the maximum. I foresee this trolley only carrying a 3D printed figure or two, so it won't haul any appreciable load.

I'm not sure if the layout I have in mind is feasible. I've made sketches and notes, but it's going to come down to testing and construction to figure out if it'll work. Knowing that the grades shouldn't go above 10% is another piece of the puzzle.
